35 YEARS LATER

35 years later,
The boy looked at the man
Saying it’s not your fault.
None of it is.
It never was.
You need to let it go.

And the man looked at the boy.
And he cried.
And he said
I wish it was different.
That you didn’t have to feel this pain.
That you didn’t have to walk this road.
That I could have made things different.
And he apologised
For all that the boy would go through
For the pain and the mistakes and the anger and the resentment and the rage and the fury and the violence and the isolation and the self loathing and the disgust and the hatred and the hurt and the pain, the pain, the pain in the years and decades to come.

And the boy looked at the man
And said it’s not your fault.
It’s not your fault.
It was never your fault.
This was our path.
You need to let it go.
Because at the end of the path
We will find a safe place
A place of peace.
A place of happiness.

And the man looked inside himself
At the boy
And he closed his eyes
And he dared to dream
And he tried to let it go.
